Wow what a year we have had, 2021 has been a rollercoaster ride but we have made it to the end and we are so grateful to have had the support of all our wonderful families and students who have shown amazing resilience and adaptability, and we are super excited for a bigger, better and amazing 2022!!

Please make sure you login to the portal to update all your details if you have moved house, changed phones or email addresses. We have important communications to send out over the upcoming weeks and into the new year and we don’t want anyone to miss out on important updates. 

If you are finding that our emails are going to your junk or promotions boxes please follow these instructions to ensure they go into your inbox.

1- The simplest way to stop important emails from landing in your Promotions tab is to drag and drop that email into your Primary tab.
2- Open Gmail and find the email in your Promotions tab.
3- Drag and drop the email from Promotions to Primary. You'll see the Primary tab turn red when you've done this successfully.

CULTIV8 HIP HOP CULTURE WORKSHOP
(For Students 7-16 years)
Don’t Miss out on securing your spot in our Cultiv8 Hip Hop Culture Holiday workshop dates for January 2022.

The workshop will include classes in:
Breaking, Popping and Hip Hop: Hip Hop, Party Dances, BBoying, Battle Techniques, Freestyle & Popping.
DJ’ing: Special highlight includes an Introduction to turntables and the art of the DJ. Also understanding how music connects to dance.
Rapping: Write your own lyrics and put it to beats, how to create your own track
Graffiti Art: Learn how to design and create your own Graffiti Tag or character including different spray painting techniques and uses, tips and tricks of colour and pattern, executing ideas from brain to canvas. Finish with their own eye-popping street art piece to take home.  
JANUARY 19th - 21st 2022   9am-4pm 
  • Workshop is suitable for ages 7-16 years
  • All Graffiti art supplies including water based spray, markers, protective gear, paper, canvases and take home pack with T-shirt Included.
  • Creative kids vouchers may be used as part tuition for the workshop
  • Early drop off and late pick up available



ADVENTURE WORKSHOP
(For students 2.5-6 years)
In this workshop we will go on an adventure exploring different fantasy lands learning different dances, inspiring their spark through creative movement activities as well as a special craft activity that they can take home. The program is  specifically designed to meet the physical, cognitive and emotional needs of students aged 3 to 6 years.

Wednesday 19th Jan 9am-12pm
  • For students 3-6 years,
  • early drop off and late pick up available.

Registration is now open on the BDC Portal under the ‘Holiday workshop’ Tab.
Limited capacity to 20 students only!

Students are currently working on 2021 concert dances that will be filmed over the next 5 months (Nov 8 2021-April 8th 2022).
Students will remain in existing classes till the end of term 1, 2022, then move up in term 2 if they age up in 2022, so they can film this years routines. We will commence work on 2022 new routines from term 2  end-of-year Production.

As we commence filming our 2021 production there will be some class time changes and important filming requirements to be aware of. 

On Saturday 18th December will be filming 6 routines, please see the below timetable for changes to class and filming times

MAKEUP (Juniors/Seniors)
All female students are required to wear full stage makeup for filming, unless wearing special effects makeup If wearing special effects make up please come with a clean face and bring makeup wipes and your normal makeup as some will be needed when we do your face. 

Make up should Include: Foundation, Eyeshadow, Mascara, Eyeliner, Red lipstick, Blush, Brow pencil, and translucent powder. Students should bring make-up with them for touch ups as you will be performing several times under warm lights.

COSTUMES
We spend many hours selecting costumes for each class. Costumes include all accessories (hats, gloves, etc.), You are responsible for your own tights, dance shoes, socks and correct undergarments. 

Tan stockings are needed for jazz and tap, black pants and bare feet for musical theatre. Skintone underwear should always be worn under costumes.

Black street shoes with a white non marking sole are always required for hip hop.
Black jazz and tap shoes.

Make sure you arrive to the studio in your uniform! 

Costumes are provided to all students at no additional cost.  All costumes are hired (including accessories) and must be returned in good condition at the completion of the Show/Filming. Please make sure all costumes are returned or the cost of the costume will be billed to your account ($60-$100 each)

2022 ENROLLMENT
All current BDC students are working on concert routines that will be filmed in term 1 of 2022 and are perpetually enrolled for next year so you don’t need to do anything except jump online and pay your 2022 Registration fee to secure your place in your current schedule. 

If you were wanting to add classes for next year now is the time to do it so you can be in the routine for filming.
New students from Feb will learn routines but may not be involved in filming of routines as costumes are being ordered NOW!

There will be slight timetable changes as some programs are being lengthened to cover more content and accelerate learning. All classes are on the same days and around the same times, see proposed 2022 timetable HERE

Should you wish to change your class schedule please fill out a change of enrolment form HERE before December 1st.

We are super excited for a bigger, better and covid free 2022!!


ACTIVE & CREATIVE VOUCHERS
Last chance to apply your active or creative kids vouchers to Term 4 tuition, simply enter the voucher information  HERE

NOTE: Vouchers must be received by the 20th of DECEMBER to allow us time to deduct them from your  January tuition payments. 

CHRISTMAS/HOLIDAY DATES

Our last day for term 4 2021 will be Saturday 18th December and we will reopen Monday 31st January for Term 1 2022!

We want to wish all our families and students a very Merry Christmas and we hope you all have a wonderful holiday break. We are super excited to see you all back in 2022 for a bigger and better year!

GIFT CERTIFICATES  
A quick reminder we have gift certificates available should you need any last minute gifts, gift certificates come in the value of $80, $120 and $200 and are for use on tuition,  uniforms  or for workshops!!! Should you need one simply send us an email:  bdc@brookvaledancecentre.com.au
